⚙️ How This Tool Works Locally

When you use this tool on PrivacyKit, every byte is processed directly in your device RAM.

  • 1. No Network Traffic: No HTTP POST or PUT requests are made to any server. Your internet can even be disconnected.
  • 2. Modern Native APIs: Computation uses native HTML5 Canvas, Web Cryptography (SubtleCrypto), and client-side binary parsers.
  • 3. Zero Footprint: Closing this browser tab immediately frees the memory buffer. No persistent cookies or caches remain.

💡 Frequently Asked Questions

What is image steganography?

Steganography is the art of concealing confidential data inside an ordinary file. Unlike regular encryption where the ciphertext looks scrambled, steganography hides the message so nobody even suspects a secret exists.

How does LSB (Least Significant Bit) steganography work?

Every pixel consists of Red, Green, and Blue color values from 0 to 255. The tool modifies only the last bit of each color byte. Because human eyes cannot detect a 1/255 difference in color shade, the image appears 100% unchanged.

Can I add a password to my hidden message?

Yes. You can optionally set a password. The message is encrypted before embedding, meaning even someone who runs a steganography extractor cannot read it without your password.

What image format should I use?

Always export and share as lossless PNG. If an image is converted to lossy JPG, JPEG compression algorithms may corrupt the hidden bits.

Are my photos uploaded to PrivacyKit servers?

Never. Pixel reading, bitwise manipulation, and decoding happen 100% in your local browser JavaScript engine.
